Course Overview

Refresh Your Knowledge.

Working at Heights Refresher training is for eligible workers who have previously completed the Basic Theory and Practical modules of a CPO-approved Working at Heights program and need to revalidate their training.

Working at Heights training is valid for three years. Successfully completing an approved refresher revalidates your training for another three years from the date of completion.

The refresher focuses on the Practical module, reinforcing the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to recognize fall hazards, inspect equipment, use fall-protection systems correctly, understand fall-distance considerations, and review rescue planning.

StartSafe has been a CPO-approved Working at Heights training provider since 2015. Our instructors keep the refresher focused, hands-on, and relevant to the work participants are doing on Ontario construction projects.

Successfully complete the required training and evaluations, and you'll receive proof of completion with your Working at Heights training revalidated for another three years.

Course FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about refresher eligibility, training validity, expired training, proof of previous training, what to bring, and choosing an approved training provider.

Am I eligible to take Working at Heights Refresher training?

To be eligible for refresher training in Ontario, you must have previously successfully completed both the Basic Theory and Practical modules of a CPO-approved Working at Heights training program. Eligibility should be confirmed using acceptable proof of previous training or the applicable Ontario eligibility system.

How often do I need to renew my Working at Heights training?

CPO-approved Working at Heights training is valid for three years from the date of successful completion. Successfully completing approved refresher training revalidates your Working at Heights training for another three years from the date you complete the refresher.

Can I take the refresher if my previous Working at Heights training has expired?

You may still be eligible for refresher training if you previously successfully completed both modules of an approved Working at Heights program. However, once the three-year validity period has expired, the previous training is no longer valid for work requiring valid Working at Heights training until the refresher is successfully completed. Eligibility should be verified before attending.

Yes. As long as your previous Working at Heights training is still valid and was completed through a CPO-approved training provider, you can take your refresher training with StartSafe. You do not need to return to the same provider that delivered your original training.

What should I bring to the refresher course?

Bring valid government-issued photo identification, proof of previous Working at Heights training if available, CSA-approved safety boots, and comfortable clothing suitable for practical exercises.
