This course promotes the safe use, inspection, and operation of Aerial Platforms and Elevated Work Platforms. It also focuses on the control of hazards associated with the use of both platforms. Elevated Work Platforms covered in this course include Scissor Lifts (Skyjack/Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), Aerial Lifts (Genie booms, Telescopic booms).

This comprehensive program is designed in two parts to provide theoretical and practical training to facilitate compliance for workers using this type of equipment.

It meets the requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction and Industrial Regulations and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards for non-self-propelled and self-propelled elevating work platforms. Equipment covered within the program are commonly referred to as scissor lift, skyjack, genie boom, and more.

Overview

During this course we’ll review and discuss the following topics:

  1. Proper Workplace Inspection check list.

  2. Pre-start inspection.

  3. Safety rules and regulations.

  4. Hazard identification and control.

  5. Safe operation including proficiency demonstration.

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Participants must wear appropriate clothing, as well as CSA-certified head, foot, and eye protection. We ask that you bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is maintained and in good working order per the manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements.
